I am the managing attorney of the Family Law Unit at Southeast Louisiana Legal Services.


Mentor / hero:

My mother is my hero.


Favorite BRBA event:

Law Day. Working with the middle school students is so exciting.


Most rewarding moment in your practice:

Obtaining a divorce, sole custody and an injunction on behalf of my client, who had endured years of domestic abuse. 


What most people don't know about me:

My dream was to become a fashion designer.


Family:

I am married to Darwin Bergeron Sr., and I have three children:  Darwin Jr., Dylan and Tiana.


Latest pursuit:

Painting.


Pet peeve:

Impolite people.


If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

To read minds.


Favorite food or restaurant:

Shrimp.


Mountains or Beach?

Beach.


What was the turning point that made you decide to become an attorney?

My Civics teacher inspired me to become an attorney.


If I had more time, I would:

Learn to speak Spanish.


Community involvement

I am the chairperson of the Law Day Committee, a member of the Pro Bono Committee and a member of the Volunteer Committee. I am the second vice-president of the Louis A. Martinet Legal Society, the past president of Southeast Advocates for Empowerment (SAFE Domestic Violence Agency).


Favorite sport:

Football.


What accomplishment are you most proud?

Being a mother.


What makes you excited about going to work?

The fact that I am able to represent persons who could not afford legal representation makes my job meaningful.
