Dear SOLACE members,

A SOLACE member attorney needs our help.

Amy has always managed her chronic asthma and allergies, but the last 18 months have been a medical nightmare for her. Her asthma has gotten much worse and the medicine she takes to keep her breathing has terrible side effects, one of which is bone and joint degeneration.

The degeneration has caused two discs in her back to rupture into her spinal column, causing extreme pain. These ruptured discs have also caused neuropathy in her hands and feet, meaning she cannot feel them anymore.

Three neurosurgeons and many tests say surgery is not an option because there is nothing to anchor the disc replacements. The bones are too porous due to the medicine and the doctors are not sure her lungs/heart could withstand the surgery.

Amy is in extreme amounts of pain most of the time and she has seen pain specialists, surgeons, and various other medical specialists and is managing her pain as best she can at this point.

She has been out of work since April.... and is applying for medical disability and social security disability...

She and her husband  are moving to Lubbock in October to live next door to her parents so they can help with care-giving.
