BRBA Announces 2015 Leaders; Installation Ceremony and Reception held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13

New leaders and officers of the Baton Rouge Bar Association will be installed during a ceremony and reception Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015, beginning at 4 p.m. at the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana.

 

Being sworn in by his father, Judge Robert J. Burns Sr., as the 86th president of the BRBA is Robert J. Burns Jr., a partner in the Perry, Atkinson, Balhoff, Mengis, Burns & Ellis law firm and a managing partner of Perry Dampf Dispute Solutions.

 

Chief U.S. District Judge Brian A. Jackson will swear in the other BRBA officers, including Jeanne C. Comeaux (president-elect); Karli Johnson (treasurer); Linda Law Clark (secretary); and Darrel J. Papillion (past president).

 

The 2015 BRBA Directors-at-large are Shelton Dennis Blunt, Melissa M. Cresson, Christopher K. Jones, Melanie Newkome Jones, Amy C. Lambert and David Abboud Thomas.

 

The 2015 Officers and Council Members of the Young Lawyers Section of the Baton Rouge Bar Association include the following:  Scott M. Levy (chair); Kara B. Kantrow (chair-elect); Loren D. Shanklin (secretary); Laranda Moffett Walker (past chair); Francisca Comeaux (council member); Jordan Faircloth (council member); Chelsea M. Gomez (council member); Mackenzie Smith Ledet (council member); and Erin B. Sayes (council member).

 

Chairpersons and officers of several sections of the BRBA will also be sworn in during the installation ceremony, including the Bankruptcy, Business/Corporate Law, Construction Law, Public Law Practice and Workers’ Compensation sections.

 

The President’s Awards and the YLS Judge Joseph Keogh Award will be presented during the ceremony.
