Areas of practice:

I teach Legal Analysis and Writing, and Criminal Law.

Favorite BRBA project or event:

All of the Youth Ed programs, but specifically the Junior Partners Academy.

What most people don't know about me:

I used to be a florist.

Pet peeve:

People who fail to take ownership of their decisions and actions.

Favorite artist:

I like folk art and especially colorful textiles.

Generally likes to read:

I read novels. I love books with some elements of magical realism. I'm a big fan of Jose Saramago and Gabriel Garcia Marquez, but lately,
I've been on a Cormack McCarthy kick.

Memorable vacation:

The summer after my 1L year, my best friend and I decided to spend the summer visiting Central America. We started in Cuernavaca, Mexico, with five weeks of language school. After that we spent six weeks bussing from Mexico City to Honduras and back. We ended up, because of a bus strike, staying at a monastery in Esquipulas, Guatemala, where we spent time with the students in the English classes at the local school. We also made it to the Mayan ruins in Palenque and Copan.

Favorite saying:

Be awesome today!

Favorite or most interesting courses in law school:

I was in law school in 2001. During that fall semester, I was taking an international law course that focused on the legal and ethical justifications for the use of force. After the terrorist attacks, we spent the rest of the semester focused on those justifications in that context.

Best advice you have received:

Get comfortable in your own skin. Figure out what you need to thrive and to be your best, and try to act with that in mind.

What was your first job:

My very first job when I was a kid was selling programs at my dad's football games. I got 10 cents for each program I sold.

What I like most about my job:

Working with students.
