Business law, including commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, secured financings, corporate law, real estate, and trusts and estates.

Best thing about being a lawyer:

Working with smart clients and colleagues on a daily basis and, in the transactional context, working on deals where all parties generally desire to reach an agreement. As an added bonus, it's very special to be a third-generation Kantrow practicing at KSWB, where two of my colleagues happen to be my dad and brother, which is fun 97 percent of the time.

If I had more time, I would:

Visit far-flung friends and travel more, generally. And try some of those exercise classes that only seem to be available in the middle of the day.

Bet you didn't know:

I say I'm on my third career. After finishing at Princeton, I worked in advertising in San Francisco at the height of the Internet boom. I left SF for NYC, but my plans changed when Sept. 11 happened before I got there. I fell into a job working for then-LSU Chancellor, and now head of the NCAA, Mark Emmert, before deciding to go to law school. The law and I have stuck together the longest. But I sometimes question my judgment both in leaving San Francisco and giving up being in the midst of all things LSU. 

Currently reading:

My Sunshine Away, written by M.O. Walsh, a Baton Rouge native and fellow alum of the Episcopal School of Baton Rouge.

Suggestion for young lawyers:

I'm no longer a young lawyer, but what I've always tried to do is listen and take notes when I'm around more seasoned attorneys. The learning is continual. And, act professionally.

Favorite place in Baton Rouge:

You mean other than that happy place called Yogurtland? Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night in the fall.

Board/Committees I serve on:

I serve on the Boys & Girls Club Board of Trustees and the LSU Law Center's Young Alumni Leadership Council, and I have recently joined the Episcopal School of Baton Rouge's Board of Trustees.

Person I would like to have lunch with:

Any of my deceased grandparents, preferably all.

Favorite law school memory:

There are many, but participating in the choreographed "Thriller" closing to Assault & Flattery is a highlight.

Culinary talent?

I love to bake and I dabble in cooking. But one might say my culinary talents are waiting to reveal themselves.

Favorite sport:

To play, tennis. To watch, college football.
