BRBA: Tell us about your education. 

I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Grambling State University, a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center.

 

BRBA: Where are you from?

I am from Marion, Louisiana.

 

BRBA: Where and what type of law do you practice?

I am an Assistant District Attorney at the East Baton Rouge District Attorney’s Office.

 

BRBA: Why did you want to become an attorney?

Since I can remember I was exposed to tv shows such as Murder She Wrote, Law and Order and Inspector Gadget which sparked my interest in becoming an attorney.  Additionally, I’ve always enjoyed helping others, love asking questions and my appreciation for working things out.

 

BRBA: If you were not practicing law, what would be your alternate profession? 

An Investigator or Actress.

 

BRBA: What is one thing you wish you would have known before you went to law school?

Don’t forget to live your life beyond law school.  I did not start living again until my 3L year.

 

BRBA: Are you involved with the BRBA? If so, how?

I am not as active as I desire to be.  Being a Prosecutor with the EBRDA Office keeps me extremely busy.

 

BRBA: What motivated you to become involved with the BRBA?

It provided an opportunity to meet new and exciting people as well as an opportunity to network and volunteer.

 

BRBA: What is your favorite BRBA activity or event?  

Belly Up with the Bar and the Halloween event.

 

BRBA: Are you involved with any other organizations or causes? 

Currently the Treasurer for the IRIS Domestic Violence Board and an active member of the National Black Prosecutors Association.

 

BRBA: What is the best piece of advice you have received?

Take one day at a time.

 

BRBA: What are your leisure activities?

Spending time with family and friends, Traveling, Shopping, Eating and attending sporting events.

 

BRBA: What is the last book that you read?

The Last Juror by John Grisham.

 

BRBA: Tell us something interesting about yourself.

I dislike cooking.
