Molly C. McDiarmid

Phelps Dunbar LLP

BRBA: Tell us about your education.
I attended LSU for both my undergraduate degree in Political Science and law school.

BRBA: Where are you from?
Slidell, Louisiana.

BRBA: Where and what type of law do you practice?
I’m an associate in Phelps Dunbar’s employment group in Baton Rouge.

BRBA: Why did you want to become an attorney?
I’ve wanted to be an attorney from a young age after reading John Grisham legal thrillers.  Weird – I know!

BRBA: If you were not practicing law, what would be your alternate profession?
If I were not an attorney, I would like to work in higher education administration.

BRBA: Are you involved with the BRBA? If so, how?
I am a member of the Volunteer Committee for the BRBA.  The committee leaders are very passionate about service and I am excited to contribute when I can.

BRBA: What motivated you to become involved with the BRBA?
Other attorneys in my firm participate in the BRBA’s many programs and events, and the BRBA provides an easy and quick way to get plugged into the legal community.

BRBA: What is your favorite BRBA activity or event?
Definitely Belly Up to the Bar! I also really love BRBA’s Holiday Star program.  I am awed every year at the generosity of my colleagues.

BRBA: Are you involved with any other organizations or causes?
I currently serve as the chapter advisor for Delta Gamma at LSU.

BRBA: What is the best piece of advice you have received?
I’m not sure if this is really advice, but I love the quote “Bloom where you are planted.”

BRBA: What are your leisure activities?
Cooking, traveling, and going on walks.

BRBA: What is the last book that you read?
Where the Crawdads Sing, by Delia Owens.  I would definitely recommend it!

BRBA: Tell us something interesting about yourself.
My youngest sibling is 21 years younger than me!
