Kimberly Ulasiewicz Boudreaux

BRBA: Tell us about your education.

I graduated from LSU Law in 2016. Prior to that, I received my undergraduate degrees in International Studies and French from LSU. While at LSU, I also studied abroad for a year in France at the Institut d'études politiques d'Aix-en-Provence.

BRBA: Where are you from?

New Orleans.

BRBA: Where and what type of law do you practice?

I recently joined the Louisiana Department of Health, where I will practice public healthcare law with a focus on Medicaid compliance and contract issues.

BRBA: Why did you want to become an attorney?

I wanted to help solve other people’s problems.

BRBA: If you were not practicing law, what would be your alternate profession?

I would definitely pursue a medical career or coach a women’s basketball team.

BRBA: What is one thing you wish you would have known before you went to law school?

You do not need to have your life plan mapped out by the time you enter law school. You can figure that out along the way. Enjoy life’s curveballs.

BRBA: Are you involved with the BRBA? If so, how?

I’ve attended BRBA sponsored events and CLEs since 2017.

BRBA: What motivated you to become involved with the BRBA?

Once I started to set up roots in Baton Rouge, I wanted to get to know more of my colleagues. This profession is infinitely more fulfilling when there is sense of respect and amiability among practitioners.

BRBA: What is your favorite BRBA activity or event?

I enjoy BRBA’s Summer Sizzlin CLE. Judge Holdridge always presents an entertaining update on Louisiana Civil Procedure, and the happy hourdrinks/appetizers at Cocha afterwards are delightful.

BRBA: What is the best piece of advice you have received?

Choose the career path that makes you the happiest and never compromise your integrity. Also, do not talk on your phone when you are checking out at the store; it is rude.

BRBA: What are your leisure activities?

Spending time with my husband and trying to beat his score on our Peloton bike. I also practice and teach yoga at Yoga Rouge near LSU.

BRBA: What is the last book that you read?

The Untethered Soul by Michael Alan Singer.

BRBA: Tell us something interesting about yourself.

When I was eight years old, I was accidentally hit with a metal bat during a softball game at my birthday party. So the right side of my face was completely reconstructed.
