Hayden A. Moore

Walters, Papillion, Thomas, Cullens, LLC

BRBA: Tell us about your education.

St. Aloysius, St. Joseph’s Academy, LSU for undergraduate and Southern University for law school.

BRBA: Where are you from?

Baton Rouge born and raised.

BRBA: Where and what type of law do you practice?

I work at Walters, Papillion, Thomas, Cullens. We generally represent plaintiffs in personal injury, wrongful death and medical malpractice cases.

BRBA: Why did you want to become an attorney?

I grew up in a family full of lawyers, so it has always been my passion. I’ve wanted to be a lawyer for as long as I can remember. Also, my dreams of being a professional figure skater were crushed at a young age when I realized we didn’t have any frozen lakes for me to practice on.

BRBA: If you were not practicing law, what would be your alternate profession?

I would for sure be an event planner!

BRBA: Are you involved with the BRBA? If so, how?

Yes, I am a member of the Bench Bar Conference Committee and the 90th Anniversary Celebration Committee (mark your calendars for August 16th - it will be a night you don’t want to miss!) I also participate in Law Day and the BRBA Softball Tournament.

BRBA: What motivated you to become involved with the BRBA?

During my very first week of practicing as an attorney, one of the partners at my firm (Darrel Papillion) took me to the BRBA office for Bench Bar Committee meeting. I was hooked after that!

BRBA: What is your favorite BRBA activity or event?

Bench Bar Conference (Exciting new location coming for 2020!), Belly Up & the BRBA Softball Tournament (except when my Dad’s team wins…)

BRBA:           Are you involved with any other organizations or causes?

Yes! I am striving to be half the volunteer that my Grandfather (Hillar C. Moore, Jr.) was, so I am involved in many different organizations. I am a baseball buddy with The Miracle League at Cypress Mounds baseball team (for children with mental and physical disabilities), a reading friend with the To Highland with Love Reading Friends Program at Highland Elementary School, a member of Club Blue (Boys & Girls Club), TRUCE Baton Rouge volunteer, member of Wex Malone American Inn of Court, on the Board of Directors of Susan G. Komen Louisiana and a member of their BigWigs under the Big Top Committee, volleyball player in the “Law League” at The Oasis, and most recently joined the committee for Dreams Come True of Louisiana (an organization that provides fully funded “dream trips to local area children with life-threatening illnesses).

BRBA: What is the best piece of advice you have received?

“For whom much is given, much is expected.”

BRBA: What are your leisure activities?

Shopping! And I hate to admit it but watching reality TV.

BRBA: What is the last book that you read?

I am currently reading I’ll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara, which is about the Golden State Killer.
