The Baton Rouge Bar Association offers this community service to aid the public in obtaining legal services. The lawyer referral service arranges a low-cost initial consultation between a the client and a lawyer who accepts the type of case the client has. At this initial consultation, the lawyer will provide advice about the specific legal issue. The lawyer and client then decide whether further legal services will be provided and, if so, what the charge for the services will be.
The referral service is listed in the Yellow Pages and arranges hundreds of referrals each year. In order to belong to the referral panel, each lawyer must meet certain eligibility requirements and possess a certain level of professional liability insurance. The service provides referrals of clients to lawyers who agree to accept referrals in numerous areas of the law.
The LRS committee also conducts the public lecture series, There Ought to be a Law.
For further information or to be referred to an attorney who practices in the area in which you need assistance, call the Baton Rouge Bar Association's Lawyer Referral Service at 225-344-9926. |
