Lt. Gov. Kathleen Babineaux Blanco to Speak at Baton Rouge Bar Association May Luncheon
The Baton Rouge Bar Association is proud to announce that Lt. Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco will address the BRBA members at the May Bar luncheon. It will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2003, at 11:45 a.m. at De La Ronde Hall, located at 320 Third Street. Blanco has served the State of Louisiana since 1984, when she became the first woman elected to represent the people of Lafayette in the State Legislature. She was also the first woman elected to the Louisiana Public Service Commission. As the second-highest official in Louisiana, Blanco oversees the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, which encompasses the offices of State Parks, State Museums, State Libraries, Cultural Development and Tourism. Since taking office in 1996, tourism in Louisiana has increased by 41 percent. Mathile W. Abramson is the 2003 BRBA president. BRBA is a non-profit association of over 2100 attorney and judges in the Baton Rouge area. ###
