Young Lawyers Section of the BRBA honors local judges and law clerks at annual Cocktails with the Court reception


The Young Lawyers Section of the Baton Rouge Bar Association held Cocktails with the Court at the 19th Judicial District Court, 300 North Blvd., Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012. The reception recognized judges from Baton Rouge and the surrounding area courts. Each judge was also given the opportunity to introduce their law clerks.


BRBA President Gail S. Stephenson and YLS Chair Jamie Hurst Watts presented the first 50 Billable Hour Award to Sherry Cannon. The award is given to members of the 50 Billable Hour Club who have obtained 50 hours or more of participation at various judges’ rule days. Held prior to the reception was a continuing legal education seminar titled, “The Thicket of Social Media and Legal Professionalism,” and was presented by Michael Rubin of McGlinchey Stafford. 


Both events were organized by Susan Kelley and sponsored by Citizens Banks & Trust; DeCuir, Clark & Adams; Smith Shanklin; Tyler & Possa; and Walters, Papillion, Thomas, Cullens, LLP.  Highland Porch catered the reception.
