Statewide Mock Trial Competition Results Announced
The statewide high school mock trial competition was held March 28, 2015, in Lake Charles, La. A mock trial team from Caddo Magnet High School was the state champion, and the runner-up was Baton Rouge Magnet High School. In the individual awards, Jake Fasick (Jesuit High School of New Orleans) and Grace Mobley (West Monroe High School) tied for "Best Witness," and Evan Doomes (Baton Rouge Magnet High School) won "Best Attorney." Evan is the son of Erin Wilder-Doomes. Lynsay Fontenot is the chair of the LSBA Young Lawyers Division State High School Mock Trial Committee. Vice chair of the committee is Kassie Hargis. Hargis will take over as chair of the committee in June 2015.
On Feb. 27-28 2015, Zachary High School and Baton Rouge Magnet High School placed first and second in the Region III high school mock trial competition held in Baton Rouge, La. Both teams competed at the state-level competition. The Region III competition is organized by the Baton Rouge Bar Foundation.
