UPDATED POSTING

Dear SOLACE members,

Our SOLACE request was sent out at approximately  9:20 AM this morning, concerning her request  for Medicaid Assistance for Air Transportation for her 14 year old niece Lauren.
Please read the following message from Jennifer :

In response to the SOLACE request, "Between 9:22am and 9:47 I had been contacted by air med services and DHH, Medicaid General Counsel and Executive Officer.
By 10:48 am both the air med side and the Medicaid side had responded seeking in detail information to move her case along towards resolution.

By 1pm, I had heard Medicaid had in fact approved Lauren’s air med transport through Air Ambulance.

At 2:03p, Melissa confirmed they were approved.

By 3:11p, Medicaid confirmed Air Ambulance had in fact agreed to the transport.

I had so many e-mails and phone calls with overwhelming love, prayers and support, that I could not respond to them all......."

Thanks to ALL of our SOLACE members for helping Jenny and her family in their time of need.
Please let us know how your fellow members of the legal community can help you and your family...

ORIGINAL POSTING

Dear SOLACE members:
14 year old Lauren (see Lauren with her beautiful smile below) and her family need our assistance.
Her aunt is an attorney and a member of SOLACE.

Lauren has a very rare birth defect Arthrogryposos and has no muscle mass below the neck. Doctors did not expect her to live longer than a week. She just turned 14 years old.

Her family was on their first real vacation to NYC and had to cut the trip short because Lauren became ill. They had to stop in Roanoke at a hospital.

Lauren has been in ICU at that hospital since August 9. Part of the problem is the doctors are not familiar with her condition. Her doctors are at Tulane Hospital in New Orleans.

Lauren is finally stable enough to be transferred to New Orleans and Tulane has a bed for her but the family has been unable to get the return medical flight  approved by Medicaid.

The family does not have the money to pay out of pocket to medical air transport so that Lauren and her mother can return to New Orleans where she can get the care from her doctors who have treated Lauren.

SOLACE REQUEST: Can anyone assist with getting Medicaid approval or assist with medical flight transportation for Lauren and her mother ?

If you can assist, please directly contact Jennifer at:   Jennifer@ftglawyers.com
