OMV’s Public Tag Agency opens inside Baton Rouge City Court

The Public Tag Agency of the Office of Motor Vehicles is now open at Baton Rouge City Court. Located on the third floor of the courthouse, this is the first tag agency office located inside a Louisiana courthouse.

Hours of operations are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. New customers will not be accepted after 3 p.m. so that all patrons may be assisted prior to the office’s closing.

Services offered include renewal of existing drivers’ licenses, renewal of vehicle registration and reinstatement of suspended drivers’ licenses resulting from failure to comply with written promises to appear. With the exception of vehicle registration renewal, there is a $5 fee per transaction, and only cash is accepted. All transactions require proof of current insurance.

The office was created without any additional funding from the City-Parish general fund and is staffed with City Court employees who were trained at the Office of Motor Vehicles.
