Baton Rouge Bar Association to host annual memorial ceremony at 19th Judicial District Court Wednesday, Jan. 30



The Baton Rouge Bar Association will host the Opening of Court, Memorial and New Member Ceremony Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, on the 11th Floor of the19th Judicial District Court, 300 North Blvd. The ceremony will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Ceremonial Courtroom, and will conclude with a reception in the hall on the 11th Floor of the courthouse.

Louisiana State Bar Association representatives will be on hand taking photos for use on attorneys' membership cards during the reception. From 9 a.m. until noon Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, Beth Chauvin from the Louisiana State Bar Association Member Outreach and Diversity Department will be taking photos and providing LSBA Membership Cards for any lawyer who is interested in receiving a new card at NO COST on the 11th Floor of the 19th Judicial District Court. Two pieces of information are required: date of admit and bar roll number. The usual fee to receive this membership card is $10 when purchased online; however, the LSBA Member Outreach and Diversity Department is providing it for FREE to all BRBA and LSBA members who take advantage of this opportunity. In the near future, attorneys may need an LSBA Membership Card to get into the courthouse with your cellphone.

The ceremony will honor deceased BRBA members along with new members of the bar. It will also recognize lawyers who have practiced law for 50 years or more. Southern University Law Center Chancellor Freddie Pitcher Jr., LSU Paul M. Hebert Center Chancellor Jack Weiss and John H. Musser IV will participate. Musser is the current president of the Louisiana State Bar Association. Also participating in the program are representatives from the Baton Rouge Association of Women Attorneys and the Louis A. Martinet Legal Society.
