Hon. Kathleen Stewart Richey selected to receive pro bono award in May
Hon. Kathleen Stewart Richey will receive the 2013 Children’s Law Award during the 2013 LSBA Pro Bono Publico and Children’s Law Awards, Tuesday, May 21, 2013. For the last 22 years, Judge Richey has served as the Division “A” Judge of the East Baton Rouge Parish Juvenile Court. Through her capacity as Juvenile Court Judge, Richey has worked to interpret and enforce Louisiana’s Children Code and other statutes in a manner that ensures due process, fair treatment and justice to juveniles, parents, families and other persons appearing before the court. She is a graduate of the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where she was a Law Review candidate. She law clerked for Hon. Daniel W. LeBlanc from August 1978 to August 1979, and was admitted to the LSBA in 1979. Prior to serving the East Baton Rouge Parish Office as Public Defender as Juvenile Public Defender, Staff Attorney/Section Chief and Appellate Counsel, she practiced law for four years with the Richey and Price Law Firm. She is a frequent seminar lecturer and holds seats on numerous advisory boards.
