Court Closures Announced

We have been advised of closures by the following courts and administrative offices:
   

  • The following will be CLOSED Thursday, January 30:
    • 19th Judicial District Court - as announced by Ann McCrory
    • Family Court of East Baton Rouge Parish - as announced by Judge Pam Baker
    • EBR Clerk of Court
    • EBR Juvenile Court - as announced by Kathleen Richey 
    • Baton Rouge City Court - as announced by Lon Norris
    • 18th Judicial District Court - as announced by Judge William Dupont
    • Baker City Court - as announced by Judge Kirk Williams
    • Ascension Parish Court in Donaldsonville - as announced by Judge Marilyn Lambert
    • Division of Administrative Law - hearings and conferences cancelled and offices closed statewide 
  •  The following will be OPEN Thursday, January 30:
    • United States Bankruptcy Court, Middle District of Louisiana - as announced by Monica Menier
    • U. S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana  - open at Noon
    • 23rd Judicial District Court, including Parish Court with Judge Lambert in Donaldsonville - as announced by Judge Alvin Turner
    • The Louisiana Supreme Court (opens at 9 a.m.) - All filings due during the period of closure will be considered filed on time if filed on Thursday, January 30, 2014. Parties who are unable to file within this extended time period may submit motions requesting a further extension of time to file with supporting documentation and argument.
    • First Circuit Court of Appeal - as announced by Christine Crow, the court will open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Although, with the exception of a skeleton crew in the Clerk's Office, employees will not report to work until 10 a.m. 
    • Zachary City Court - as announced by Judge Lonny Myles
    • Southeast Louisiana Legal Services will open at 11 a.m.
    • Baton Rouge Bar Association will open at Noon
    • 21st JDC - will be open. Updates will be posted on:  www.21stjdc.org

 

  •  The following WILL MAKE A DETERMINATION LATER TODAY as to whether they will be open Thursday, January 30. PLEASE CHECK BACK LATER FOR UPDATES:

  • Memorial Ceremony – The annual Opening of Court Memorial Ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, January 29 has been rescheduled to Wednesday, February 19, 2014, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the 19th Judicial District Court.

 

  • Family Law Section CLE – The Family Law Section Meeting & CLE seminar: Local Rules of the Family Court of East Baton Rouge Parish scheduled for on January 28, 2014, will be rescheduled. Further information will be forthcoming.

 

  • Baton Rouge Bar Foundation THIRST FOR JUSTICE outreach at St. Vincent de Paul -
    Closed Wednesday, January 29 

 

  • The EBR Clerk of Court's Office (19th JDC) - Closed Wednesday, January 29, 2014.

 

  • 19th Judicial District Court, as announced by Chief Judge Trudy White and Ann McCrory, will be closed Tuesday, January 28, and Wednesday, January 29, 2014. Check the court website at www.19thjdc.org for more information.
                 

 

  • Family Court of East Baton Rouge will be closed on Tuesday, January 28, and Wednesday, January 29, according to Chief Judge Pam Baker. Domestic Violence cases scheduled for Wednesday will be continued and new Temporary Restraining Orders will be issued.

 

  • Baton Rouge Office of the Division of Administrative Law as announced by Ann Wise - The Division of Administrative Law has cancelled all hearings and pre-hearing conferences for Tuesday and Wednesday. They will be rescheduled. 

 

  • 18th Judicial District Court will be closed Tuesday, January 28 and Wednesday, January 29, as announced by Chief Judge William C. Dupont.

 

  • 21st Judicial District Court  -  The court will be closed Tuesday, January 28, and Wednesday, January 29. Check back for future updates regarding Thursday, January 30.Updates will be posted on the court website at http://21stjdc.org/  

  

  • 23rd Judicial District Court – as announced by Chief Judge Alvin Turner, the court will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Please check the court website at http://www.23rdjdc.org for further information.

 

  • The First Circuit Court of Appeal, as announced by Christine Crow, is closed Tuesday, January 28, and Wednesday, January 29 due to severe weather conditions and potential bridge and road closures. If you need to contact the Court in an emergency, please call 225-324-0423. For more information, see the Court’s website at www.la-fcca.org

 

  • EBR Parish Juvenile Court is closed Tuesday, January 28, and Wednesday, January 29, 2014.

 

  • Baton Rouge City Court is closed Tuesday, January 28, and Wednesday, January 29, 2014.

 

  • Baker City Court, according to Judge Kirk A. Williams, is closed Tuesday, January 28, and Wednesday, January 29, 2014.

 

 

  • U. S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana is closed Tuesday, January 28, and Wednesday, January 29, 2014, due to the winter weather conditions, announced Chief U. S. District Judge Brian A. Jackson of the U. S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana. The court will reopen Thursday, January 30.
