BSW takes home BRBA softball championship trophy 2014

The Baton Rouge Bar Association held its annual softball tournament Aug. 15-16, 2014, at BREC / Hartley Vey Sports Complex at Oak Villa Park. A team from Breazeale, Sasche & Wilson took the 2014 softball tournament championship over Aggravated Batters, a team representing the EBR Parish District Attorney’s Office. Aggravated Batters, the winner of last year’s tournament, played hard until the end, but not as well as the BSW team who the final game of the championship Saturday, Aug. 16.

Special thanks to this year’s event sponsors, including Dr. Michael J. Goff / Louisiana Health & Injury Centers for the Friday night jambalaya, soft drinks and snow cones; and Total Care Injury & Pain Centers for the Saturday BBQ and face-painting for the kids.

LeCreole sponsored the softball T-shirts, which were provided to the tournament winners. The Marruci Bat Company donated the custom-made bat that will be presented to the winning team at the September Bar Luncheon Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014, at L’Auberge Casino & Hotel Baton Rouge. The winning team will also be presented the R. Bruce Macmurdo Memorial Award, which is a traveling trophy that will remain in the care of BSW until next year’s tournament.

Committee co-chairs Chris Jones and Dana Brown organized an excellent game. Ann K. Gregorie is the executive director of the BRBA and Meredith French is the staff liaison to the BRBA Athletic Committee.
