Sarah C. Thigpen

 Rowe Law Firm

Areas of practice:

Family Law, Estate Planning & Administration.

Wills for Heroes.

In the theatre? Yikes, it's been a while. Probably Avengers or Captain America.

What's the biggest challenge facing attorneys today:

There are so many solo practitioners in Baton Rouge. I would say all attorneys, but especially solos have a hard time finding that work/life balance and proper time management. You can't really "get away" when it's your own firm. I think finding that time to get away or unplug is the biggest challenge we face as attorneys.

Family:

I have been married to my husband, Jeremy Thigpen, for 10 years. He is an Edward Jones Financial Adviser in Walker, Louisiana. We have two children:  Gabriel, 4, and Kennedy, 2. Also, we have an 11-year-old miniature pinscher named Hans and a 7-year-old boxer named Rocco.

If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be?

Bobby Bones, country music radio DJ, author, comedian. I'm a huge fan. He is so real and honest and inspiring. I think he would be cool to hang out with an converse with.

What is the best thing about living in Baton Rouge?

The Food!!

Favorite restaurant:

Ichiban and Louisiana Lagniappe.

Board/Committees I serve on:

BRBA Family Law Section Secretary.

Favorite law school memory:

I developed a lifelong friend while studying for the bar exam, with someone who was in my class during law school, but who I had not previously been "friends" with. We studied all day, every day, and developed such a great friendship over the one of the the most stressful things we have ever done.

Education:

I have a B.A. in psychology and a minor in English  from LSU (2003) and received my J.D. from Southern (2010).

Suggestions for young lawyers:

Find a mentor and ask questions! Experienced attorneys are almost always willing to sit down and talk to young lawyers and give them guidance/help.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Greece.

How do you begin your workday?

Coffee and email, I can't do anything substantive before 9:30ish.

What most people don't know about me:

I took Russian as my foreign language in college.

Name a historical figure that you admire:

Eleanor Roosevelt.
