Molly Lancaster

 Louisiana Department of Justice

Areas of Practice:

Criminal Law. I am an assistant attorney general in the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice.

Best thing about being a lawyer:

At the end of the day, as a criminal prosecutor, I contribute to a community of professionals in an effort to uphold justice. I have realized that being a lawyer is often about helping people and always keeping their best interest in mind.

Hobbies:

I have three young kids! What's a hobby? Just kidding:  I knit, paint and read in my spare time.

If I had more time, I would:

Travel more often.

Bet you didn't know:

I am a certified Scuba diver and recently dove with Caribbean reef sharks off the coast of the Bahamas.

Suggestion for young lawyers:

Find a mentor. I was trained by amazing prosecutors in the East Baton Rouge District Attorney's Office and am fortunate to work with equally incredible attorneys in the DOJ. I still learn so much from them!

Favorite place in Baton Rouge:

Mid-city. We live walking distance to several parks and are surrounded by awesome places to eat!

Board/Committees I serve on:

Currently, I am on the Law Day Committee. I've participated just about every year since I became a member. It's my favorite BRBF activity.

Favorite law school memory:

The summer of 1998, when I lived in Aix-en-Provence, France, and attended summer school.

What makes you most proud of being a lawyer?

Knowing that at the end of the day, I have made a difference.

If you weren't an attorney, what profession do you think you would be in?

I always wanted to go to beauty school and be a hairdresser.

Favorite saying/quote:

"The years teach much which the days never know."  -- Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Guilty pleasure:

Coke Zero.
