Areas of Practice:

My in-house practice is a lot like that of a general practitioner. Contracts, real estate, eminent domain, employment, trademark/copyright, constitutional law, and a host of other things.

What was the turning point that made you decide to become an attorney:

Came to realization that I didn't want to be a professor while studying history in graduate school at Wake Forest.

Hobbies:

Golf, reading.

If I had more time, I would:

Travel more for fun.

Where will you be found on a Saturday night:

At a baseball field or basketball gym watching my sons Howell or Davis play or out to dinner with my wife, Lauren.

Best thing about being a lawyer:

Getting to know and work with great people and helping them solve their problems.

Currently reading:

"The Undoing Project" by Michael Lewis.

Mountains or Beach?

Both.

How to you begin your workday?

Read The Advocate and Washington Post.

Person I would like to have lunch with:

Thomas Jefferson.

Culinary talent:

My wife got the culinary talent, but I'm pretty good at cleaning up.

Latest pursuit:

Brushing up on my French before visiting my son, Hudson, later in the year while he is studying in Bordeaux.

Advice for law students:

Law school is great training for many things, not just practicing law in the traditional firm setting; so don't limit yourself when searching for a job.
