Bobbie Monroe

 Dunlap Fiore, LLC

Areas of practice:

I've been doing primarily Insurance Defense for about 12 years.

How have you been involved with the BRBA?

Holiday Star Project each year, and served as a member of the Law Expo Committee.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

I know it sounds cheesy, but honestly, I'm so proud that I'm an attorney. One reason is because I was raised by my grandma, who could not read or write, so it makes it a special accomplishment and it's a testament to the kind of woman she was.

Favorite artist:

Theodore Rousseau. I don't know much about art, but I saw this painting, "The Forest in Winter at Sunset" in NYC MOA and it was the first piece of art that literally stopped me in my tracks.

The last movie I saw:

"War Room."

Generally likes to read:

Non-fiction. I just discovered audio books and with Audible and the app from the library, and I read a lot more because of it. I "read" while driving to work each day.

Memorable vacation:

I've seen every lighthouse except one on the Oregon Coast. Couldn't find that last one. Oregon is the most beautiful place I have seen. I also love Southern California.

The biggest challenge facing attorneys today:

So many challenges.

If you could be anyone else for a day, who would you be and what would you do?

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. I want to see what her real life and daily schedule is like, how she handles her family and outside work commitments and how much help she really has. I would implement a plan for the royal family to have a second (or third) home in Baton Rouge, which the State would use for tourism promotion.

If you weren't an attorney, what profession do you think you would be in?

I think I would be a high school teacher or I'd own a little shop somewhere.

Favorite saying/quote:

Fate whispers, you can't handle the storm. The warrior whispers, I am the storm.

Favorite restaurant:

Just one? Long Horn. Ruth Chris. Stroubes. Flemings. Burgersmith. I'm a meat-and-potatoes kind of girl.

Community involvement:

Baton Rouge Bar Association; Baton Rouge Association of Women Attorneys (BRAWA); American Inns of Court; Christ Community Church; LSU Flory Trial judge.

Preferred sporting activity/event:

Watching the Olympics and "Dancing with the Stars." Dance competition is a sport!

What was your first job?

I worked at a shoe store in Bon Marche when I was 17 or 18, but still in high school.

Advice for your lawyers:

Surround yourself with more experienced attorneys and be intentional about learning from them.
